The Nexelec SIGN+ is a 7-in-1 LoRaWAN room sensor that measures TVOC, CO2, temperature, humidity, presence, brightness, and noise in offices, homes, and other indoor environments. SIGN+ adds an E-Ink screen to the SIGN platform, giving occupants a direct on-device reading of current conditions. All measurements also transmit wirelessly to a secure cloud platform for remote monitoring and data logging.

SIGN+ is Nexelec's most comprehensive E-Ink room sensor, combining seven sensors with the iZiAiR on-board air quality algorithm and a built-in E-Ink display in a compact enclosure. A color-coded indicator light and audible signal alert occupants when ventilation is needed. Configuration is done wirelessly via NFC using the Nexelec TOUCH smartphone app — no tools, no wiring, no need to open the enclosure.

Key Features

  • E-Ink screen: Displays current ambient measurements directly on the sensor. Low power consumption, high readability even in direct sunlight, no reflections or excessive brightness. Screen layout is fully configurable locally via NFC or remotely via LoRaWAN.
  • TVOC measurement: MOx (metal oxide) sensor. Reports a VOC air quality index (0–500): 0–100 indicates improving IAQ; 100–500 indicates deteriorating IAQ. Quickly detects excessive VOC concentration levels and supports real-time ventilation control.
  • CO2 measurement: NDIR sensor, resolution 1 ppm, accuracy ±(50 ppm + 3% of value), range 0–5,000 ppm. Analyzes air every 5 minutes; automatic weekly recalibration; manual calibration also possible.
  • Temperature measurement: Resolution 0.1°C, accuracy ±0.2°C, range −30°C to +70°C
  • Humidity measurement: Resolution 0.5% RH, accuracy ±2% RH, range 0–100% RH
  • Presence detection: Passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor, 92° detection angle (vertical and horizontal), detects people up to 6 m away
  • Brightness measurement: Resolution 5 lux, accuracy ±5 lux, range 0–5,000 lux — useful for lighting control or temperature adjustment based on sunshine levels
  • Noise measurement: Resolution 1 dB, accuracy ±5 dB, range 35–120 dB — identifies noise pollution to help preserve a calm environment
  • iZiAiR air quality algorithm: On-board algorithm analyzes up to 9 pollutants simultaneously, measures the concentration of each, and prioritizes their hazardousness to simplify interpretation and guide appropriate action.
  • CO2 indicator light: Green/Orange/Red LED visible from over 10 m changes with CO2 level to alert occupants when ventilation is needed. ppm trigger threshold is reconfigurable via NFC or remotely via LoRaWAN.
  • Audible signal tone: Notifies occupants when indoor air quality deteriorates. Can be activated or deactivated locally or remotely.
  • Local data storage: Built-in micro SD card stores up to 10 years of measurements — data is preserved in the event of a network outage or power cut.
  • USB-C socket: Universal connector for continuous mains power, eliminating the need for battery replacement in permanently installed deployments. USB-C power cable included.
  • LoRaWAN connectivity: LoRaWAN only (X265LR)
  • Multi-band LoRaWAN: Configurable for EU868, US915, AS923, and other regional frequencies via NFC
  • NFC configuration: Over 25 parameters adjustable via Nexelec TOUCH app — measurement interval, transmission interval, LED/buzzer indicators, radio frequency band, and more. Settings can be made through the packaging before the battery is installed.
  • Data transmission modes: Periodic, on-change, and bundled datalog with redundancy (each frame sent three times to maximize gateway reception)
  • End-to-end encryption: Double AES-128 encryption on all transmitted data
  • Long battery life: Up to 15 years(1) with three SAFT LS14500 2600 mAh lithium batteries (all three included)
  • On-demand measurement: Front button triggers an immediate measurement and data transmission
  • Anti-tamper: Lockable mounting base; alert message sent if the sensor is removed
  • Mounting: Free-standing, wall-mounted (screws/plugs included), flush-mounting box compatible, or 3M adhesive fastener (included) — no drilling required
  • 270° air circulation: Numerous side openings for better ambient air sampling
  • Calibration: Calibration certificate for CO2, temperature, and humidity measurements from a COFRAC-accredited independent metrology laboratory
  • Regulatory compliance: Direct-reading NDIR CO2 sensor compliant with French and international standards for measuring CO2 concentration in indoor air
  • Certifications: CE, UKCA, FCC

Applications

  • Comprehensive indoor air quality monitoring in offices, classrooms, and public buildings with on-site display for occupants
  • VOC exposure monitoring in offices, workshops, and spaces with chemical or cleaning product use
  • Ventilation control and HVAC automation based on CO2 levels, VOC index, and occupancy
  • Lighting and energy optimization based on presence and brightness
  • Acoustic monitoring and noise pollution management
  • Regulatory compliance monitoring for indoor air quality standards
  • Permanently powered installations via USB-C where battery replacement is impractical
  • Facility management and building automation
  • Large-scale IoT sensor deployments via LoRaWAN networks
  • Integration with NAVIXIS IoT platform for dashboard visualization, threshold alerts, and data export

Important Notes

  • Intended for indoor use only. Operating range: 0°C to +50°C, 0–99% RH non-condensing. Note: the operating temperature lower limit is 0°C — the E-Ink display's operating range is narrower than the sensors alone.
  • NDIR CO2 sensor requires a minimum ambient CO2 level of about 400 ppm for several consecutive hours to maintain automatic recalibration accuracy. Suitable for offices, classrooms, and shared spaces; not recommended for spaces that are never unoccupied or never ventilated.
  • The TVOC sensor uses MOx technology and reports a relative air quality index (0–500), not an absolute concentration in µg/m³. MOx sensors respond to a broad range of volatile organic compounds; they do not identify or quantify individual compounds.
  • Battery life is significantly affected by the VOC sensor's continuous power draw. The USB-C socket is recommended for permanent installations where battery replacement is impractical. Use the Nexelec VOLT tool to calculate projected autonomy for your deployment.
  • SIGN+ supports LoRaWAN only. There is no Sigfox variant.
  • LoRaWAN gateway and network server not included. A LoRaWAN network must be available at the installation site.
  • NFC configuration requires the free Nexelec TOUCH app (Android or iOS).
