The ED-CM4COOLER is a precision-engineered heatsink specifically designed for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4), ensuring stable operation under demanding workloads. Due to the CM4's higher performance compared to previous generations, it runs significantly hotter -- at 25°C ambient with a fully loaded CPU, temperatures reach around 80°C, close to the 85°C thermal limit. The CM4 Cooler addresses this with three thermal pads that simultaneously conduct heat away from the CM4's CPU, wireless module, and power management unit (PMU), reducing temperatures by up to 20°C under full CPU and DDR memory load. The cooler can keep the CM4 running at full CPU load in ambient temperatures up to 50°C. Available in Black and Silver finishes, it supports the full range of CM4 variants including wireless models.
Key Features
- Compatible with: Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4) -- all variants including wireless
- 3 Thermal Pads: Simultaneously cools the CM4 CPU, Wi-Fi/wireless module, and PMU
- Cooling Performance: Reduces CM4 temperature by up to 20°C at 25°C ambient under full CPU and DDR load; supports operation up to 50°C ambient at full CPU load
- Heatsink: 55 x 40 x 10mm aluminum heatsink with 150 fins (3.6 x 1.7 x 7mm each)
- Nylon Washer Options: Includes 4x 1.5mm and 4x 3mm height nylon washers to accommodate 100-pin board-to-board connectors of both heights -- protects connectors and prevents CM4 board deformation
- Screw Options: Includes M2.5×6mm screws (for 1.5mm connectors) and M2.5×8mm screws (for 3mm connectors)
- Eliminates Solder Risers: The nylon washer system allows the CM4 Cooler to securely mount to the CM4 without requiring soldered stand-offs on the baseboard, saving design and assembly cost
- Colour Options: Available in Black (ED-CM4COOLER-B) and Silver (ED-CM4COOLER-S)
- Passive Cooling: Fanless -- silent operation with no moving parts
- RoHS Compliant

Nylon Washer Guide
| Washer Height | Use With | Screw Length |
|---|---|---|
| 1.5mm | 100-pin 1.5mm height board-to-board connector (e.g. Raspberry Pi CM4 IO Board) | M2.5×6mm |

Installation Notes
- Install the CM4 on the baseboard first and connect any antennas before fitting the cooler.
- Select nylon washers based on your 100-pin connector height: 1.5mm washers with M2.5×6mm screws for 1.5mm connectors; 3mm washers with M2.5×8mm screws for 3mm connectors.
- Align the three thermal pads on the cooler with the three components (CPU, PMU, wireless module) on the CM4 before pressing down.
- Insert the four nylon washers into the gap at the four corners between the CM4 and the baseboard, aligning with the mounting holes.
- Fix the cooler by inserting screws from the bottom of the baseboard and tightening clockwise.
FAQ Highlights
- Can I use it with the CM4 IO Case or CM4 Industrial? The CM4 IO Case uses a fan for cooling and does not require an additional heatsink. EDATEC's CM4 Industrial Computer uses the metal case for cooling and also does not need an additional heatsink. The CM4 Cooler is intended for custom CM4-based board designs.
- Which colour cools better? Black provides approximately 2°C better cooling performance than Silver under identical conditions.
